Walking Sequence

Walking Sequence

This is a walking sequence and in this video i had Alpha helping me with my video and what we did was we used the same camera techniques (pan, follow, Dolly) and after that we edited it using Premiere Pro cc.

What Worked?
What worked was that the transitioning of the videos were on beat with the music and on time.

What Didn't work?
What didn't work is that the quality of the film was not clear and it looked a bit blurry and can barely see the video.

Hollywood Montage

Hollywood Montage
This is the Hollywood Montage Video. An example of a Hollywood Montage is Rocky Balboa Training for his fight and in every scene there are cuts between each scene.  In this video me and my class had to be in groups of 3 or 4 so In my group there were 3 of us so we used the example of the rocky balboa scene and arranged our own rendition of the scene.

What Worked?
What worked was that the cut transitions from one scene to the other were on point

What Didn't work?
What didn't work was that the video could have been longer but since the video was short we didn't get enough footage. Another thing is that the environment of the scene was not really a good area to work on and no props

What Could I Do Better?
What I would do is look for a good environment to work on for the right theme to the right music.

Final Project Research

Boys To Men - A Song For Mama

This song is sung by a group called Boys II Men. This song is paying tribute to their mothers and how they raised them up to being men and how they took care of them.

This video is relevant to me because I'm doing a music clip to pay tribute to my mum who recently passed away due to cancer. So for my final video I'm going to do a music clip which pays tribute to my mum for everything she has done for me.

2pac - Dear Mama

This song is called Dear Mama by Tupac Shakur. This is also paying tribute to Tupac's Mother. This Song or clip is relevant because in my clip i will be rapping/lip syncing and this makes it more relevant because Tupac expresses the struggle that his mum went through trying to work and bring food on the table which is sort of like my mum and how she migrated to New Zealand and she had to work her way in order to feed me and clothe me.

Wiz Khalifa - See You Again

This Song is by Rap artist Wiz Khalifa with the collaboration of Charlie Puth singing See You Again. This song is different from the two because this song is paying tribute to one of the greatest actors in the Movie series The Fast And The Furious. This is the song that I will be Rapping/Lip Syncing and my friend Alpha will be Collaborating with me as we both agreed to do sing this song and I am thankful that my friend wanted to do this because he knows how much my mum means to me and surely he knows how much his mum means to him.

Final Video

Moa Ft Alpha - See You Again

This is the final Video and the theme of this video is paying tribute to my mum who passed away.
So in this video I went to my mums grave with Alpha and  and took some footage and after that we went to my house with michelle (our Camera Girl) and took some footage as well then went to one of the performing arts rooms which had a piano and took footage of me playing piano and Alpha lip syncing the chorus and bridge. Afterwards we went to edit it and had Alpha and Michelle as my Executive producers and they gave me advice on how the video would turn out. So in the beginning of the film I put two videos of my dad saying farewell to my mum and used the effect called the cross dissolve to transition one video to the other. I also added photos of my mum during the funeral and before she passed as to me it made me cherish the memories that me and my mum had so i guess it made me have a good laugh and throughout the video it finishes off with my mum's picture.

Final Project

Here's a little Snippet of my Final Video

Task 6 - Lighting

 Low Key

High Key

Today I was experimenting on using Low key and High key Lighting. I experimented on one of my classmates and i took a still image using High key and Low Key Lighting

What worked?
What worked was that i was able to take a still image on my classmate instead of a blurred image. and the High key Lighting was on Point.

What didn't work?
What didn't work was that on the photo above was not darker and showed a little more light.

What would I do differently?
if I were to do this again I would look for a darker room to take a photo for low key lighting.

Task 5 - Mise En Scene

Today I searched up a movie scene and found this image of Eminem from the movie 8 Mile and so what I did was i asked a good friend of mine if I could take a photo of him and make him look exactly like the still image like the image below.

What worked?
what worked was that i found two cars that faced the same direction.

What didn't work?
what didn't work was that i did not get the picture accurately and the picture that i took is nowhere similar to the actual image and the cars were in front of the fence/gate and as you can see in the image below there is a person pushing a trolley.

What would I do differently?
If i were to do this again I would try and get another image that is simple and try to take the photo accurately.

Task 2 - Seven Sequences

Task 1 - Artist Research

What Do I See?
I see Andy Warhol advertising for a Japanese TV company

What Is The Idea That The Artist Is Communicating?
The Idea was to sell a TV that has colour for TDK which is a TV company in Japan

What Is Working?
From my point of view, the thing thats working in this video is that Andy is showing that the TV that he is holding has colour and he is trying to sell it as a product

What Is Not Working?
What i think is not working is that the video size is small and did not fill the whole video and there weren't that much cuts and transitions in this video.

What Would You Do Differently?
I have no idea on what i would do differently but if I were to do an advertisement then i would have arranged it in a different way by adding more cuts and more footage of the TV and the Artist/Actor/Actress

Task 8 - Continuity (shootout)

This video I collaborated with some of my class mates and acted in this old western shootout. after we took the video shots we had to edit it individually so what i did with my video was that I edited by making it into like a video game type of video mixed with the old western shootout but instead of using guns we used water bottles as guns so the audio that I chose was the song from one of my favourite Clint Eastwood movies which is "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" and I used the Street Fighter Audio effects just to make it more intense and in the end it scratches and it actually turns out that it wasn't a real shootout.

What Worked?
what worked was that it really looked like it was going to be a battle and that the music made it more intense.

What didn't work?
what didn't work was that while filming you could actually see the camera and the directors in the beginning of the film from the tinted windows which shows a reflection of them.

What I would do differently?
what i would do is look for a wall or somewhere where you cannot see the camera or anybody while filming.
